CHARLOTTE — A woman faced a judge Tuesday for the first time after she was accused of severely abusing a 5-month-old child at a south Charlotte day care.
Rebecca Wilt Jackson came to court Tuesday afternoon with her attorney.
She left court without saying anything on camera.

Workers called 911 on May 6 after they found the baby unconscious with bruises on her face at Easter Seals Day Care.
When they got her to the hospital, the child was placed in intensive care. Someone familiar with the case described her injuries as the result of shaken baby syndrome.
Police investigated for more than two weeks before arresting Wilt Jackson late Friday.
Her attorney, Bill Powers, told Channel 9 it is very early in the legal process.
"I think it's fair to say that anyone charged with that kind of allegation is going to be upset about it. It's a scary process, facing the court system, and we just have to let things develop," Powers said.
Easter Seals Day Care did send out a statement over the weekend, saying that Wilt Jackson no longer works at the day care and managers there are continuing to cooperate in the investigation.
