BELMONT, N.C. — Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is welcoming visitors back to its grounds. The garden is now open to the public Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In order to manage crowds, timed entry tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available each Monday for the following week.

Members will need to reserve tickets online.

The garden closed in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic but reopened to members in May. In August, the garden reopened to the public for weekend visits.

“Now that we see we can operate safely and responsibly, it’s time to admit more people,” Interim Executive Director Jim Hoffman said in a news release.

“We’ve implemented various protocols to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. It’s become a new normal for us and our members, so we’re confident we can welcome more people to enjoy the benefits of being in nature and in a garden,” he said.

In addition to thorough cleaning, the garden is also requiring staff members to wear face masks, is installing barriers at check-in areas, and is making hand sanitizer available.

Guests will be required to wear masks indoors and outdoors when the recommended 6 feet of social distancing is not possible.

The Garden Store and restrooms in the Visitor Pavilion are open, but the rest of the building remains closed. Seating around the garden will also be limited.

A limited selection of snacks and drinks, including beer and wine, can be purchased in the Garden Store.

The Lost Hollow Children’s Garden and Orchid Conservatory remain closed.
