BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. — Democrat Dan McCready is continuing a national media tour that he started here at Channel 9, related to the investigation into possible election fraud in the U.S. House District 9 race.
McCready is calling on Republican Mark Harris to say what he knows and when he knew it.

On Monday, McCready’s campaign released 10 questions they want Harris to answer. Among many things, the McCready campaign wants to know why the Harris campaign hired McCrae Dowless and whether Dowless shared early vote information leaked from the Bladen County Board of Elections.
Over the weekend, the vice chair of the Bladen County Board of Elections resigned. His name is Jens Lutz and is a registered Democrat.

Lutz told Channel 9 he resigned because of family reasons and infighting in his party.
Channel 9 took a deeper look at his background and found Lutz has a connection to Dowless. The two started a political consulting firm together in 2014.
In a 30-minute interview with Channel 9, Lutz declined to get into specifics, frequently citing the investigation. He said he cut ties with Dowless after what Lutz called “Dowless’ suspicious dealings.”
A Department of Homeland Security report found the board of elections in Bladen County is horribly insecure. The security cameras inside do not work, and the building doesn’t have an alarm.
Lutz said he isn’t sure what role this played, but he said the perception certainly doesn’t help.
