DALLAS, N.C. — A police captain is accused of exposing himself in front of a woman in Gaston County.
Michael Lynch left his job as an officer in the Gaston County Police Department in October 2014 to become an investigator in the Dallas Police Department, eventually becoming second in command.
A woman told police that Lynch pulled down his jogging pants and exposed himself to her in October at a medical facility on South New Hope Road, according to a criminal summons.
Gaston County police were called to the scene. When they recognized Lynch, they asked the State Bureau of Investigation to take over.
The Dallas Police Department put Lynch on administrative leave with pay in November.
The SBI gave its report the Gaston County district attorney, who decided to charge Lynch with misdemeanor indecent exposure.
The district attorney said the SBI is still working to complete a detailed report.
The Dallas police chief said the outcome of the report will determine whether Lynch remains on administrative leave.
