CONOVER, N.C. — The District Attorney’s Office will not seek the death penalty in the first-degree murder case of Tyler Leroy Eugene Linebarger.
Linebarger, 23, of Conover was indicted on Jan. 5. by the grand jury on a murder charge in connection with the Jan. 1 death of 7-month-old Chekeem Jamar Hickman Jr.

The 7-month-old had multiple internal injuries, bruises and broken ribs before dying at the hospital, according to arrest warrants.
