CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The new bike lanes in uptown Charlotte are marked with bright green paint and separated from cars with plastic dividers, yet some drivers are still using them as parking lots.
Cyclists told Channel 9 that they're forced to swerve into traffic to get around cars parallel parked in bike lanes and they're frustrated.

In photos obtained by Channel 9, you can see a truck using the lanes to parallel park and a USPS truck using it as a loading zone.
"If people don't feel like those bike lanes are going to be a safe and reliable ways for them to get in and out of town, they're going to be less inclined to use them," city councilmember Larken Egleston said.
