Customers wonder why they haven’t seen money from Lumber Liquidators settlement

Customers are still waiting for money from the major legal settlement involving the Lumber Liquidators flooring that had high levels of the cancer-causing chemical formaldehyde.

Robin Marlowe and her husband bought the flooring and started to redo the floors themselves. Then, the news broke about the possible safety issue. They stopped laying the flooring right away and kept all but a few pieces in the packaging ever since.

Marlowe followed the settlement closely, hoping for money or store credit.

The company agreed to pay customers $22 million in cash and $14 million in store credit.

Marlowe told Action 9′s Jason Stoogenke she filed a claim by the October 2018 deadline. But, here we are, a year and a half later, and she said she hasn’t gotten the money or store credit.

“You’re on hold. You have other projects you can’t do and they’re just taking years of your life away,” Marlowe told Stoogenke. “You just want to get it resolved because we’re sitting here now, like, what are (we) going to do next?”

Stoogenke looked into it. He found the settlement is on appeal. The court hasn’t ruled yet, so the payouts are on hold and there’s no way to know when that’ll change. But he’ll update you as soon as it does.
