CORNELIUS, N.C. — Crews have recovered the body of a person who reportedly jumped off a dock into Lake Norman Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cornelius police said their lake patrol was at the scene of what appeared to be a drowning. A spokesperson for the department said they were told someone jumped off a dock.
The Huntersville Fire Department said it was helping the Cornelius Fire Department with the search.
In a tweet just before 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Huntersville Fire and Cornelius police confirmed that person’s body had been recovered.
“Please pray for the family, friends and co-workers,” firefighters asked.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene, where several search crews and boats could be seen.
Authorities have not released any other details.
