CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — A person has drowned after they were reported missing from the Brown Mountain Beach campground in Caldwell County, firefighters said.
Crews were called to Wilson Creek, half a mile above the campground, just after 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Emergency responders called a raft and a dive team to the area to help with the search. Firefighters in Burke County also assisted.
After searching the water, first responders said they found the missing person’s body.

“We would like to thank all the agencies and people who assisted us last night on Wilson Creek,” firefighters said.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. No other details have been released at this point.
