Crews respond to 2-alarm apartment fire behind The Arboretum in south Charlotte

A second alarm was called for an apartment fire behind The Arboretum Friday afternoon in south Charlotte.

Firefighters responded to Horse Chestnut Lane off Raintree Lane near Pineville-Matthews Road.

Four units were destroyed and between eight and 10 people were displaced because of the blaze that took 50 firefighters to extinguish.

Crews said flames were coming from the roof when they arrived.

Chopper 9 few over the scene where smoke was showing and firefighters were working to extinguish the fire.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is under investigation.
