CHARLOTTE — Police are investigating a man’s death Tuesday morning on Interstate 277 in Uptown Charlotte.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was called to the highway near the Interstate 77 ramp around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday. There, they found two cars: A 2019 Jeep Wrangler that had flipped and a 2005 Hyundai XG 350L sedan with damage to the driver’s side and back.

Officers found 26-year-old Frederick Lachoun Brown, Jr. laying on the road unresponsive. Brown was taken to the hospital where he later died, CMPD said.
MEDIC said one other person was hurt and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. CMPD said that victim was the driver of the Hyundai.
Investigators believe Brown, who was driving the Jeep, hit the Hyundai while on I-277. Brown lost control of the Jeep, hit the concrete median, and flipped over, police said.
Police said Brown wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car.
The inner loop of I-277 was blocked between I-77 and South Boulevard until around 8 a.m.
