CHARLOTTE — A “shelter in place” alert was issued Wednesday afternoon at Central Piedmont Community College- Central Campus, while police tried to find someone on the campus outside of uptown, police said.
It was lifted late afternoon and normal activities resumed at the campus.
CMPD stated that officers saw a car connected with someone that had outstanding warrants.

However, officers could not find that person with the warrants.
“There is no indication that the person with outstanding warrants was armed or posed any threat to anyone,” CMPD stated in a news release.
