COVID-19 cases on the rise ahead of school year, Atrium Health says

CHARLOTTE — Atrium Health officials are issuing a warning for parents as they send their kids back to school.

Doctors said COVID-19 cases are increasing again, with cases spiking around early to mid-July.

Although only a small number of those cases have sent people to the hospital, Atrium Health still advises parents to stay home if they or their child feel sick.

The FDA announced the approval of a new COVID-19 vaccine booster to combat current variants of the virus.

It is expected to be available by the end of this month.
