CORNELIUS, N.C. — An eight-year-plus journey to build an arts center in downtown Cornelius is now complete.
Art and music lovers have a new state-of-the-art theater as the Cain Center for the Arts officially opened in Cornelius on Saturday night.
It was a $25-million dollar project that features a 400-seat theater, an art gallery, and green space. They will hold anything from performances, meetings, and banquets.

The first show featured Renee Elise Goldsberry, a singer who took part in the Broadway musical Hamilton.
Construction started on the arts center in May 2021.
“It’s just wonderful. It’s a great culmination of years of work by the community by our staff by our team here,” said director Justin Dionne.
