MATTHEWS, N.C. — A local contractor who has been repeatedly accused of not completing work has been arrested again.
Channel 9 has learned that Randy Briel was charged with fraud in South Carolina.
Briel was also charged with two misdemeanors, including failure to do work after being paid and defrauding an innkeeper, in North Carolina.

The Better Business Bureau said Briel changed business names more than 25 times over the years, which has made it difficult for customers to research him before hiring him.
Briel has served time in prison for financial crimes in both Carolinas.
At the beginning of this year, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein’s office sued Briel and his business partner. The judge banned the two men from working as contractors in the state and ordered them to pay more than $200,000 to about 30 victims who complained to Stein’s office.
Briel told Action 9 in 2018 that he was out of the business and working for his brother.
