ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A large crowd is expected Saturday in Alamance County for a pro-Confederate monument rally.
Police department officials said concerned business owners have contacted them concerned about a rowdy crowd.
Organizers are expecting hundreds, possibly thousands of people to turn out.
James Myrick started an online petition to keep a Confederate symbol on the courthouse steps.
"I've lived in Alamance County my entire life. I don't want to see the monument go. It's put here in memory of fallen soldiers," Myrick said.
Myrick plans to hand deliver 6,000 signatures to county commissioners on Monday night.
