CONCORD, N.C. — Some of the busiest intersections in our area could soon run a little smoother.

A state of the art traffic center just opened in Concord, and North Carolina is the only state that that has one like it.
The system tracks 200 live cameras, 140 traffic signals and 22 school zones all connected by 100 miles of fiber cable.

Traffic technicians said the new system is badly needed in the rapidly growing city and it's going to help drivers get around more safely.
