CHARLOTTE — A technical issue in the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office is having an impact on operations at the jail Monday, leaving some inmates waiting longer than usual to post bail and get out.
Channel 9′s Hunter Sáenz learned that the Offenders Management System was supposed to be updated Sunday morning, but it didn’t go as planned. The prolonged update has resulted in several operations being down, including the system at the jail that provides mugshots for active inmates.
The technical issue means that jail staffers are now having to process bail bonds completely by hand and on paper until a fix is completed.
“There’s been some technical issues. There’s been a significant delay caused as a result of those technical issues,” Chief Deputy Rodney Collins said. “We’re still working through those and tentatively scheduled to come back at 8 p.m. this evening.”
#New: Sheriff McFadden tells me an updated merge of two computer systems on Friday didn’t go as planned. It’s now impacting people trying to bond out of jail. They are now having to do it all by hand/paper. County’s IT dept. is trying to fix. More to come… @wsoctv

The MCSO’s website says the sheriff’s office is conducting an upgrade to a new electronic warrant system that is supposed to be done by about 8 p.m. We’re told that is a different issue than the Offenders Management System.
As of 9 p.m., the sheriff’s office’s website now lists a 12 a.m. timeline for the issues to be resolved.
Those who are eligible to bond out of jail still can, it just could take hours longer to do so until the update is complete, according to Collins.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
