CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Gigi’s Cupcakes in Charlotte has gotten at least a temporary reprieve.
Owner Dana Walton expected to shutter the business in February after months of slow sales. But fans of the shop had other ideas, coming out to buy dozens and dozens of cupcakes.

That made it possible to pay the rent in February, which is typically the cupcake shop’s strongest month, and look toward the future.
