CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A Fortune 500 company based in the Charlotte region is adding hundreds of jobs here.

CommScope Holdings Co. Inc. (NASDAQ: COMM) will expand its manufacturing operations in its home area in Catawba County.

The CommScope project calls for an investment of $60.3 million and the creation of 250 jobs. The company is expanding its Catawba County facilities to accommodate increased fiber-optic cable manufacturing capabilities.

The expansion was announced after the state’s economic investment committee approved incentives for CommScope Tuesday morning under the code name Project Eagle.

The project is the latest big investment in the region for cable manufacturing, a sector that was on full display earlier this year when CommScope and Corning Inc. announced large expansions alongside N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper and U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.
