HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — It’s been eight months since the largest U.S. pipeline spill in the last 20 years happened in Huntersville.
Earlier this month, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality said the amount of gasoline released exceeded Colonial Pipeline’s estimate of 1.2 million gallons. It’s also deeper in the soil than originally thought.
Today, WSOC’s Elsa Gillis toured the site and spoke to Colonial’s Vice President of Operation Services about the spill.
>>> In the video above, find out what they say about a monitoring program being put into place and if something like this could happen again.
