Coast Guard rescues 3 adults, 1 child after boat takes on water off NC coast

OREGON INLET, N.C. — The Coast Guard in North Carolina rescued three adults and a child after their boat stopped working and started taking on water Saturday afternoon.

Officials said they were notified about the boat at 11:44 a.m., and sent two crews to the boat, which was located one mile off the Oregon Inlet.

Once on the scene, the four people were able to get on a Coast Guard vessel and their boat was towed back.

Crews pumped water out of the boat so it wouldn’t sink on the way back to shore. They were taken into Wanchese Harbor.

Officials said no one was hurt during the incident.
