CMS teacher wins big in Guy’s Grocery Games

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools teacher is the newest champion of Flavortown after winning Guy’s Grocery Games.

Elizabeth Barrick, a home cook and kindergarten teacher at Matthews Elementary School, won $20,000 on the game show Thursday night.

Hosted by popular Food Network personality Guy Fieri, Guy’s Grocery Games pits four chefs against one another in three elimination challenges in hopes of winning the money prize.

Thursday’s episode partnered teachers with all-star chefs. The duos had to solve math and geography clues to discover the ingredients for their dishes based off of school lunches.

In her first challenge, Barrick had to use an item that cost $4.99, lima beans, and an item that’s 12 ounces.

After surviving elimination, she moved to the second challenge where she had to use items that start with the letters ‘B’ and ‘C’.

The next episode of Guy’s Grocery Games airs July 19.
