HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A North Mecklenburg High School student was arrested for allegedly bringing guns and drugs onto campus.
According to Huntersville police, school officials called police because Miguel Penaloza Guzman, 18, was selling THC vape pens at the school on Thursday.
“If you have children it’s always shocking, it’s a horrible thing,” said John Higgins, a parent.

Police say they stopped Guzman as he was trying to leave campus.
A K-9 sniffed out 100 vape pens while police searched through the teenager’s car, and investigators say they found two guns with extended magazines in Guzman’s car.
Another parent said he wants to see updated safety measures.
“it’s sad to see something like that going into schools,” said Joseph Bauer. “Those are complicated because it’s going to infringe on peoples rights, and there are going to have to be more searches on students.”
Higgins says the solution starts outside of school at home.
“The best thing we can do is talk to our children about how they can prevent things like this,” Higgins argued.
Guzman faces weapons and drug charges, in addition to charges for bringing them to a school campus.
