Option C is a hybrid of options A and C, which also included 177 instructional days. Both options also had more days in the first half of the school year versus the second half of the year.

Magnet program changes

The board also voted on proposed magnet program changes.

Students and staff will be moving from Trillium Springs Montessori into north Charlotte’s newer Lincoln Heights Academy next school year.

Lincoln Heights would also be expanded by three classrooms.

CMS will reopen E.E. Waddell as a full magnet high school, but it would initially only be for ninth and 10th graders. E.E. Waddell would not have an athletics program.

These changes will go into effect in time for the lottery that opens on Jan. 16, 2023.
