According to CMS board policy, a criminal records check is required for all applicants who accept a job with the district, and, "In order to conduct an accurate check of criminal records, all applicants for employment will be required to submit to fingerprinting, and any current employee may be required to submit to fingerprinting."
CMS said in the 2018-19 school year, the district hired 3,851 employees.
The district said it changed background vendors to support "more extensive, deeper background checks and paused the fingerprinting process while reviewing a change to our policy."
It went on to say, "CMS security and safety measures are periodically reviewed, updated and strengthened to best protect our students and staff."
