CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said it will work with community-based organizations to create remote learning facilities.
The facilities will be responsible for:
- Background checks on staff members
- Appropriate staff-to-student ratio
- Implementing safety requirements
- Holding CMS harmless of any incidents

CMS will not provide transportation, but the community-based organizations can if they want to do that.
There are more than 100 agencies interested in the endeavor.

CMS leaders stressed this is not an excuse to get out of in-person instruction.
