CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A teenager has been charged in connection with a crash that killed his 16-month-old nephew, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Police said Darius Roseborough, 17, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala on Josh Birmingham Parkway Saturday morning when he lost control of the vehicle and slid off the road, hitting a tree. Police said it was dark and raining at the time of the crash.
The child, Logan Wright, was in a child restrain seat at the time of the crash, police said.
Wright was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Police said Roseborough did not have a driver's license. He was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and no operator's license.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation.
