CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's south division is getting a new location and building.
The land is already being cleared on the corner of Providence Road West in south Charlotte.
The south division is currently tucked away in an office park.
It’s one of about half a dozen precincts that are in line for a new building that will put them closer to the center of their service area and, more importantly, make it easier for people to find them.
"The public will just be able to come up if they want to make a report," said Capt. Christian Wagner. "Right now, it’s a little bit harder for them to find us. They got to Google us and it’s tucked away, so this will be really nice."
