CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Sonic employee was rushed to the hospital after a shooting outside the restaurant in northwest Charlotte late Monday, police said.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, gunfire erupted in the parking lot of the Sonic on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.
Investigators said a group of people drove up to the Sonic around 11 p.m.

The employee then went outside and there was some sort of confrontation between him and the group, according to detectives, and that's when someone shot the worker, before speeding away.

The employee was taken to the hospital with what paramedics said were serious injuries.
Investigators are trying to figure out whether they knew each other and what the motive was for the shooting.
No arrests have been made.
