CMPD searching for driver after man seriously hurt in University City hit-and-run

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after a man was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run Sunday morning in University City.

The crash happened at around 4:38 p.m. on North Tryon Street near Stetson Drive.

Officers said they received a call about a man sitting down on the road. Once they got to the scene, they learned the victim had been struck by a vehicle.

The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made at this point.

Authorities are searching for a navy blue Honda CR-V. Officials said it has either a front tag or a decorative front plate, and will not have a lot of damage.

Anyone who has any information on this hit-and-run is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Moments before this collision, a separate hit-and-run happened nearby on University City Boulevard. A man was killed after a car struck him before driving away. Police are searching for a silver car with damage to the lower-front right bumper and headlight.
