CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police led an active shooter training inside a club at the NC Music Factory, steps away from a concert at the Filmore, on Tuesday.

The training at the club was planned before this week's shooting in Las Vegas.

This session is even more important after the tragedy the occurred Sunday night.

"This is kind of the world we live in. Pretty much what we see when we turn on the TV is a bunch of violence going on around the country,” said Officer Johnathan Frisk, of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Frisk said that is why he teaches active shooter training.

Frisk’s presentation goes through various active shooter situations. On Tuesday, he taught employees with Club One and Sports One how to best react.

Some of Frisk’s advice is to always know where the exits are or to find a barricade if you can't escape.

Owner Peter Thomas said safety has always been a huge priority for his business.

"Both on a Saturday or Friday night, we do 500, 600, 700 people at each venue that pass through,” Thomas said. “The last thing I want to happen is what happened in Orlando last year or what happened in Vegas this weekend."

A few doors down from the training, people lined up to hear a band perform at the Filmore.

“We definitely have our concern with what happened,” Diana Zambrano said.

“You just have to embrace everything and live your life to the fullest,” Yvette Grimes said.

Frisk said the police department has already received more requests for training this week, and expects those numbers to increase.
