CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man who barricaded himself Thursday afternoon inside an east Charlotte home is accused of dragging a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer during a traffic stop hours earlier in University City, police said.
Police said that two officers pulled Kendrick Parry over just before 1 a.m. in the 2500 block of East WT Harris Boulevard. During the traffic stop, they learned Parry had an outstanding warrant and when they tried to get him out of the vehicle, he sped off, dragging one officer with him for 20 feet.
The officer was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but he's expected to be OK.
Detectives received information that Parry was at a home on Frontenac Avenue, near Shamrock and Eastway drives, and tried to make contact with him. Parry refused to come out of the home after several attempts.

SWAT team members and negotiators were activated and responded to the scene.
Neighbors told Channel 9 that police spent more than three hours trying to get Parry out of the home.
"I don't know what he's doing, but he just needs to let go. You're not going to win, you're not," neighbor Marcus Thompson said.
