CMPD officer arrested, charged with falsifying time sheets

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Thursday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Michael L. Thompson was arrested by CMPD detectives and charged with eight counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

The charges stem from a criminal investigation which concluded Taylor falsified time sheets while working secondary (off-duty) employment for the Berewick Homeowners Association, according to police.

Thompson was hired by the CMPD on May 17, 2007, and was assigned to the Steele Creek Division. He has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending a criminal and internal investigation.

"The actions of this officer do not reflect the character of the dedicated men and women that wear the badge of the CMPD with honor. We will continue to hold officers to the highest standards and accountable for their actions," said Chief Rodney Monroe.
