CHARLOTTE — A 2-year-old boy found walking along a busy road around 1 a.m. Monday has been reunited with his family.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department had asked for the public’s help to identify the child after he was found.

Antonio McCain told Channel 9 that he remembered putting his son, Jeremiah, in bed with his siblings just after midnight.
“My mom called me about 5:45 this morning, and she said, ‘Son, this little boy on TV looked like Jeremiah,’” McCain said.
McCain said his mother saw a clip on Eyewitness News Monday morning about a child found on Mallard Creek Road near the intersection of Baucom Road.
Around 8:30 a.m., CMPD said a good Samaritan found the boy walking alone.
McCain said he was certain his son was in bed.
“Went in the closet, went in the bathroom, and I just my last resort was, where’s Jeremiah? (I) woke everybody up in the house,” McCain said.
Jeremiah was later reunited with his family.
McCain believes the boy snuck out through an unlocked door while he was outside with his wife.
“We were standing here in the front. (It) wasn’t like we drove off or anything. We were standing here with my dog,” he said.
McCain plans to add new locks and has this message for families.
“Sleep with them. Lock the door,” he said. “Lock them in the door with you.”
