CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police provided an update Tuesday morning on the deadly Labor Day weekend shootings, expressing their frustration that people aren't speaking up about what they know.

Police intentionally held their press briefing near the home where 7-year-old Kevin Rodas was shot and killed 10 days ago. They want to underline the importance of finding out who is responsible for that killing and four others over the holiday weekend.

Deputy Chief Doug Gallant said police have been very actively going after guns and suspects involved in assaults and thefts of guns since that weekend shooting spree.

Gallant said they have made 95 arrests and taken 56 guns off the street -- including an automatic assault rifle. He said they are checking all of those guns and suspects to see if they might have been involved in the shootings.

“We're not at the point in the investigation where we can name any names or tell you what the tipping point was,” said Brisbon. “We can tell you we need your help. We need all the information the public has -- we're sure somebody knows something.”

Police also talked about the shootings last weekend outside a recording studio at the N.C. Music Factory uptown, saying it's all a part of a pattern of violence that they are trying to change with their aggressive approach.
