CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was jogging through a northeast Charlotte park Sunday afternoon and was held up at knifepoint, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Police said a 20-year-old was running on a trail at Reedy Creek Park when someone approached him with a knife.
There have not been any arrests made.
Police said the robber stole $200 and a Samsung Galaxy phone.
Channel 9 has covered several high-profile crimes on trails this year.
In March, a 27-year-old female jogger said a man jumped out of the woods and threatened her with a knife on the McAlpine and Four Mile Creek greenways in south Charlotte.
Police believe he was trying to sexually assault the woman before her dog bit him.
Over Memorial Day weekend, police said a 35-year-old was attacked and robbed on the McMullen Creek Greenway in the middle of the afternoon.
Police are urging people to walk and run with partners.
CMPD officers have also has expressed interest in creating a special unit for greenway patrols and adding blue lights and markers to trails.
People along the Reedy Creek Park told Channel 9 that this most recent armed robbery in northeast Charlotte is alarming.
“I think it is crazy,” a resident said. “I come here with Kyo and Leo and I wouldn't expect it especially during the day.”
Police said the victim was treated and released from a hospital with minor injuries.
