CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in northwest Charlotte.
Shortly before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, police got a call from a woman who said she found another woman shot inside her home on Porter Street.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to MEDIC.

The woman who called 911, Stephanie Alexander, 51, shot and killed the other woman inside the home, investigators said.
Alexander was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail and was charged with voluntary manslaughter.
A man was inside the home at the time of the incident but it is not clear if this person was involved.
CMPD said there was no other threat to the community.

Residents told Channel 9 that they are working with community groups to curb violence in the area.
“I feel like it’s going on everywhere now. So I don’t know where everybody gonna move to, because no matter where you live we still have the same problems,” Eunice Thomas said.
