CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in west Charlotte early Tuesday morning.
Police said they were called to the 2900 block of Reid Avenue just before 1 a.m. for an assault with a deadly weapon call.
MEDIC pronounced the victim, later identified as 26-year-old Curtis Alvin Sherer, dead at the scene.

Channel 9 spoke with a woman who heard those gunshots as they rang out.
“When my daughter had said, ‘Ma, that’s gunshots! Gunshots!,’ And that’s when we realized it was nine shots that we heard,” she explained.
She said she and her daughter had to drop to the floor to avoid getting hit.
Multiple witnesses told Channel 9 that they saw a person running from the home where the shooting took place.
However, police did not immediately say if they had any suspects in mind.
