CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Wednesday morning.
Around 1 a.m., police said they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call on the 7500 block of North Tryon St.
At the scene, police found a vehicle that crashed into the rear end of a CATS bus.
Inside the vehicle, 20-year-old Conner O’Neil Yancy was pronounced deceased from apparent gunshot wounds, and an unidentified woman was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries related to the crash, according to police.
The driver and sole occupant of the CATS bus were not injured.

Police did not immediately say if detectives were searching for any suspects.
An investigation into this incident is active and ongoing.
