Arrest made after 17-year-old boy killed in northeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police made an arrest in a shooting that left a 17-year-old boy dead last month.

Officers arrested 23-year-old Jonathan Estrada today during a traffic stop.

On September 27th, officers were dispatched to a shooting call near the intersection of North Tryon Street and East Arrowhead Drive around 8:45 p.m.

Police roped off the entire intersection with crime scene tape, including part of a strip mall and a convenience store across the street.

Police said 17-year-old Yahir Valdez was killed in the shooting.

Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting.
