CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested and charged a man weeks after a woman was found shot to death in north Charlotte.

Officers responded just before 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 20 to the scene on Spring Street near Fontana Avenue.

Police said the woman who was shot died at the scene. She was identified as 40-year-old Eileen Rosado.

As officers were collecting evidence, authorities said witnesses told them that the suspect might still have been at the scene.

CMPD then called in the SWAT team to assist with the search, but they learned the suspected killer left the area. On Nov. 24, CMPD said they were looking for 38-year-old Ja’Meil Robert Lynwood Catlett.

Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous. Catlett was found in High Point and arrested on Wednesday. He was taken into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Channel 9′s Tina Terry was at the scene and saw SWAT searching around Greenhaven Townhouses on Spring Street.

Due to the police activity in the area, officials said Walter G. Byers Elementary School was temporarily placed on lockdown.

This is an ongoing investigation and no other details have been released.
