CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a homicide at an apartment complex at north Charlotte Saturday afternoon.
Officers were called to the scene at around 3:40 p.m. at the Colonial Grand at Mallard Creek Apartments after reports of a physical assault.
At the scene, they found 35-year-old Billy McKay Jr. with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died, according to police.
Authorities said the incident happened in the common area of the apartment complex. Officers believe the victim and suspect knew each other.
No arrests have been made at this point.
