Man charged with murder after deadly shooting at north Charlotte gas station

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged a man with murder after a deadly shooting Friday night in north Charlotte.

Officers responded to a gas station on North Tryon Street near Dalton Avenue just before 9:15 p.m. for a welfare check.

Once they got to the gas station, officers found Cornell Williams, 30, who had been shot. MEDIC pronounced him dead at the scene.

On Saturday, police said they arrested and charged Demario Jamal Maye Wilson, 32, with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

No other details have been released and this is an ongoing investigation.
