CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified the man who died in a shooting that stemmed from an argument Tuesday night in east Charlotte.
Officers responded to an assault call in the 3000 block of Timber Hollow Drive shortly before 10 p.m.
Officers said they found John Prentiss Ward, 33, on the ground with a gunshot wound. He later died at the hospital.
Police said the area is not known for this kind of violence.
“It’s a fairly quiet apartment complex, maybe usually a property crime at worst. It’s a fairly tight-knit, quiet apartment complex. This not a usual occurrence, so for this to happen it’s unusual,” Major JD Thomas told Channel 9.
We’re asking police for more information about the victim and if they know who pulled the trigger.
CMPD has asked witnesses or anyone with surveillance video in the area to come forward.
