CHARLOTTE — Police say one person has been charged after a deadly crash in north Charlotte Sunday night.

The crash happened just before 11 p.m. near Sugaw Creek Park and I-85. A Channel 9 crew on the scene could see crime tape and police cruisers blocking the road.
Police have now charged one man for the crash.
Leonardo Perez has been charged with felony death by vehicle and felony hit and run, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Perez is also facing charges of no operator’s license and reckless driving.
CMPD identified the victim as Antonio Darnell Harris, 34.
According to CMPD, Harris was standing in the median when he was hit by Perez’s Chevrolet Silverado. Police said Perez was going the wrong way on West Sugar Creek Road.
CMPD said Perez didn’t stop and remain at the scene after the crash.
