CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a deadly crash in south Charlotte.
It happened early Tuesday morning, around 12:30 a.m., along Tyvola Road near Londonderry Road and Flagstaff Drive, CMPD said. It was the second deadly crash within two hours that CMPD investigated. A person died in a wreck along Sunset Road in north Charlotte.
A Channel 9 crew who arrived at the scene shortly after the crash could see a badly damaged car outside a home near where the crash happened.
According to an update from CMPD on Tuesday, the victim was identified as Kendall Crawford, 36.
CMPD says Crawford was going east on Tyvola Road at a “high rate of speed” when he lost control and flipped the car. Police say Crawford wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car during the crash.
The department says toxicology results are still pending.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
