CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers investigated a homicide early Saturday morning in northeast Charlotte.
Officers said a man was shot and killed just before 3 a.m. in the 4000 block of Collegiate Avenue near Interstate 485.
CMPD said a group of people were gathered outside an apartment on Collegiate Avenue before the shooting.
Three other people were also shot, but they are expected to recover.
Family identified the man as Adrian Potts.
Potts’ aunt, Barbarita Springer, told Channel 9 her nephew was home from college.
“Our family is at a great loss. He was the life of the party. He was such a great kid,” Springer said.
Police said two additional male victims remain hospitalized at Carolinas Medical Center – University with non-life threatening injuries due to gunshot wounds.
One additional victim was also treated at Carolinas Medical Center – University for a gunshot wound and released early this morning.
