CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are searching for a killer after an overnight homicide in east Charlotte.
Officers responded to a shooting call on Wallace Road just after 11 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot.

Channel 9 spoke with a woman who said she heard five gunshots ring around 11 p.m.
She said she stepped outside her apartment and saw the victim lying on the sidewalk near her apartment.
She said he had been shot and was crawling on the sidewalk, asking her to call the police.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators have not released many details surrounding the killing but did identify the victim as 24-year-old William Walter Allen III.
No arrests have been made.
