Child hurt after bullets fired into west Charlotte home, police say

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after a child was shot Thursday evening in west Charlotte.

Officers responded to the scene just after 8 p.m. on Carlyle Drive near Wilson Avenue.

Police said a home was shot at and a child inside was struck. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not said how old the child is and no arrests have been made at this point.

About 90 minutes later, police responded to a separate shooting where another juvenile was injured.

At 9:30 p.m., officers were called to the scene at Big Cone Place and Longleaf Drive, where they found a shooting victim. That juvenile was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to CMPD.

Their age was not released and no arrests have been made in that case either.
